My Relationship with Media-Log 1

I'm really good with technology.  I know how to work it and how to fix it.  But when it comes to media, some people might say that I live under a rock.  Mainly mainstream media because I do watch Netflix, and sometimes Youtube.  But I don't really pay attention to the latest trends or anything like that.  I don't want to give the effort to care about that, and I don't really have the time either.  I don't really have any social media accounts because I know that if I had them I would spend too much time on them.  So because of this, I would say that my relationship with mainstream media is limited, but I have a normal amount of exposure to other media.
I choose not to have an Instagram, or Snapchat account, I don't have anything like that because I don't want it.  Some people don't have these things because they aren't allowed, but I just don't want it.  Sometimes I wish that I did because I would be more included in the circles of high school.  Other times I am so glad I don't have it.  Every day I get home from practice at seven o'clock.  I eat dinner and take a shower and by the time I start homework, it is already 7:45.  If I had social media, I would probably spend time on it for a while before starting homework.  Since I am not involved with those mainstream media forms, I start homework immediately.  I am thankful for not procrastinating on social media when I get to bed by ten every night.  When I wake up every morning with energy and have enough of it to last me the whole day with hard workouts at practice I am grateful to myself that I wasn't stupid enough to be on any type of media.  This is not saying that people with social media are stupid.  I am saying that it is stupid, for me and the type of schedule I have, to get some dopamine hits on media by paying for it with my general well being.
Sometimes I do watch procrastinate by doing something on media, but that is very rare and I always hate myself for it afterward.  The part of media I do engage with, as I mentioned before, is Netflix, Youtube, and any other forms that people are exposed to by just living life like ads.  I am exposed to advertisements all the time whether I am aware of it or not.
I don't know if this counts as media, but I send a fact out every day to a bunch of people.  This also exposes me to media as I look for facts.  I have to make sure the facts I send out are true.  I call my facts "Ellen's random fact of the day" and I send it to more than 50 people, which includes family, friends, and team members.  This exposes me to different types of media.  I get to learn new facts every day, I learn what is true and what is not, and I also have to deal with all of the ads that come up on the internet.
Overall, I think my relationship with the media could be viewed in different ways.  It is healthy because I am not always on social media.  It could also be seen as unhealthy to some people because I am not as socially active without social media.  Personally, I believe my relationship with media is pretty healthy.
